🎨 Winter Art Classes 2026 for Teens (Ages 11+) — Create Your Own Comic! 📅 Tuesdays | 5:30 – 7:00 PM 🗓️ January 6 – March 10, 2026 (10 classes) 📍 Downtown Kitchener | All Supplies Included 👩🎨 Art Instructor: Marien de Freitas 🖊️ All supplies are included — just bring your ideas! This winter, turn your imagination into a full-color comic! In this 10-week course designed for teens, you’ll learn how to bring your characters and stories to life through expressive drawing, storytelling, and dynamic page design. Perfect for beginners and continuing students, this class guides you step by step — from your first sketch to a finished, full-color short comic. 🧠 What You’ll Learn ✅ Character Design — Create expressive faces, unique hairstyles, and detailed outfits that show personality. ✅ Dynamic Poses & Movement — Capture motion and energy in your drawings. ✅ Composition & Backgrounds — Build depth and atmosphere through layout and perspective. ✅ Lettering & Speech Bubbles — Add dialogue and sound effects that strengthen your story. ✅ Color & Visual Impact — Use mixed-media techniques to make your comic vibrant and polished. ✅ Comic Creation Process — Develop your story, plan panels, and complete your own short comic. 🖋️ Before the First Class Students are encouraged to bring a short story idea — their own or a favorite one to adapt into a comic. It helps jump-start creativity and character development from day one! 🏡 Bright, Welcoming Studio Our downtown Kitchener studio is a friendly, inspiring space where teens feel relaxed and confident to explore creativity. 👩🎨 Ideal Group Size for Focused Learning With 6–12 students per class, everyone receives plenty of attention and support. Instructor Marien brings warmth, patience, and expertise to every session, supported by a helpful art assistant. 🤝 Art + Community Art class is more than drawing — it’s about connection. Teens make friends, share ideas, and become part of a creative group that celebrates imagination and storytelling. 🌟 By the End of the Course Each student will complete an original short comic, showcasing their story and characters in full color — a wonderful achievement for aspiring young artists!
