As I look back on 2024, I’m filled with gratitude for the milestones, challenges, and incredible support that defined the year. From expanding our art classes in Kitchener and Guelph to participating in art markets and launching new online art programs, it’s been a year to remember.
Here’s a recap of 19 highlights that made 2024 truly special!
1. Moving to a New Studio in Kitchener
The year began with a big move to a new, spacious studio in Kitchener. This transition allowed us to offer more art classes for kids and adults, creating a vibrant space where creativity could flourish.
2. Family Support During the Move
The moving process wasn’t easy, but I had amazing help from my kids. Their support reminded me how teamwork makes even the biggest tasks manageable.
3. Participating in Doors Open Waterloo
In 2024, I participated in Doors Open Waterloo for the first time. Opening the studio doors to the public was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the local community and share the creative energy of our space.
4. Saying Goodbye to Brynn
This year, we bid farewell to our beloved art instructor Brynn. Her contributions were invaluable, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
5. Welcoming New Instructors: Marien and Vera
As one chapter closed, another opened with the addition of two talented art instructors, Marien and Vera. Their passion and expertise have already brought so much value to our team.
6. Collaborating with Maria
I had the privilege of collaborating with Maria, an early years educator. Together, we developed new approaches to teaching young artists, blending creativity with developmental insights.
7. Hosting Co-op Students
Two exceptional co-op students, Abby and Fox, joined us this year. Their energy, ideas, and enthusiasm were a joy to have in the studio.
8. Amazing Volunteers
A big thank you goes to the volunteers who supported our programs. Their dedication played a huge role in making our events and classes successful.
9. Expanding Art Classes in Kitchener
2024 saw the addition of new groups for both kids and adults in the Kitchener studio. Seeing these groups grow in creativity and confidence was a highlight of the year.
10. Thriving Classes in Guelph
Our cozy Guelph home studio continued to welcome wonderful groups of young artists. These intimate sessions nurtured creativity in a supportive environment.
11. Four Weeks of Art Camps in Kitchener-Waterloo
This summer, we ran four weeks of art camps in Kitchener-Waterloo. Kids explored drawing, painting, and mixed media projects, creating memorable summer experiences.
12. Business Growth with a Grant
I was honored to receive a Business Center grant and graduate from a business program. This milestone marked a step forward in growing the art school and its offerings.
13. Completing a Business Coaching Program
2024 was also the year I completed an online business coaching program, which helped me refine my goals and strategies for future success.
14. Releasing a New Online Art Program
One of the most exciting achievements this year was the launch of a brand-new online art program. Designed for busy creatives, this program made it easy to explore art from the comfort of home.
15. Solo Exhibition at Wyndham Art Supplies
Having a solo exhibition at Wyndham Art Supplies was a dream come true. Sharing my work in such a respected space was a proud moment.
16. Participating in Art Markets and the Guelph Studio Tour
2024 marked my participation in art markets and my first time in the Guelph Studio Tour. Connecting with art lovers and sharing my process was an inspiring experience.
17. Inspiring Travel Adventures
This year included two unforgettable trips to Portugal and Florida, along with camping and road trips across Ontario. Each adventure provided fresh inspiration that fueled my art.
18. Sponsoring a Community Celebration
Giving back to the community has always been important to me. This year, I sponsored the New Year Celebration for the Russian-speaking community in Kitchener-Waterloo.
19. Completing the December Quick Sketch Challenge
I ended the year with a creative push by completing my daily December Quick Sketch Challenge. The goal of this project was to show: "Drawing doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Take it one step at a time. Use what you have, and focus on enjoying the process. When you start small, you build confidence, skills, and the habit of creativity."
Looking Ahead to 2025
Reflecting on 2024, I’m filled with excitement for what’s to come in 2025.
Whether it’s expanding art classes in Kitchener and Guelph, growing our online art programs, or participating in more community events, I can’t wait to see what the new year holds.
2025 is also an incredibly special year for me personally and professionally!
I’ll be celebrating my 50th birthday, marking 10 years of teaching art, and 5 years of running art classes in Kitchener. To commemorate these milestones, I plan to host special events, release exciting new projects, and offer free classes to share the joy of art with even more people.
