Our Winter Sketching Program for ages 9–12 combines skill-building with imagination. Students learn to draw with confidence, develop observation, and explore how to express ideas through line, shading, and color. ✏️ Sketching Skills and Visual Thinking Each class offers a clear, step-by-step approach to sketching real and imaginative subjects—from cozy winter still lifes and snow animals to creative characters and scenes. Kids learn how to observe, simplify, and build strong compositions using proportion and contour. 🎨 Dry Media Focus We work with graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, and soft/oil pastels. Students practice hatching, blending, and layering to create depth and texture, exploring warm–cool contrasts and light effects inspired by the winter season. 🧠 Creative Thinking and Personal Style Along with solid drawing techniques, kids are encouraged to experiment and find their own artistic voice. Each project allows for personal interpretation and imaginative expression. 🖼️ Every Session is Unique Every seasonal program brings fresh themes and projects. This winter’s topics include light and shadow, cozy interiors, and expressive winter scenes. 🌍 Art History and Global Inspiration Students discover how artists around the world use sketching to explore daily life, emotion, and storytelling. 🏡 Bright, Welcoming Studio Our downtown Kitchener studio is bright, cozy, and inspiring—a perfect creative space for winter weekends. 🤝 Art + Community Students connect with peers who share their love for art and creativity. 🌟 Supportive Teaching Team Led by Marien, supported by an art assistant, ensuring guidance, encouragement, and hands-on help for every student.
