Sketching for Adults in Kitchener Observe • Explore • Create Whether you're new to sketching or already enjoy creating art, this 8-week course is a chance to slow down, look more closely, and discover different ways to sketch. We’ll explore light, shadow, shapes, and contrast while trying a variety of materials — from graphite, charcoal, and pastel to ink, markers, watercolor, and acrylic. Some projects will be black and white, while others may use sepia, deep blue, or a touch of color. Along the way, you’ll learn to see shapes, light, shadow, and values more clearly — building a strong foundation that makes working with color more natural and intuitive. Learn to see before you paint with color. 📍 Yulia ArtSpace – Downtown Kitchener 🎨 Skill Level: Beginners & Continuing Students 🗓 Tuesdays | October 13 – December 1, 2026 🕠 5:30–7:30 PM 🎟 8 Classes | All Supplies Included 👩🏫 Instructor: Yulia Balobanova The first part of our year-long creative path 🍂 Sketching — Build the Foundation ❄️ Exploring Color — Discover Color 🌸 Color Sketching — Bring It All Together What You’ll Explore • Light, shadow, contrast, shapes, depth, and composition • Graphite, charcoal, pastel, ink, markers, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media • White, black, and toned paper • Monochrome, limited palettes, and occasional color accents • Still life, flowers and natural forms, landscapes, architecture and urban subjects, animals, everyday objects, and sketchbook studies • Different ways to observe, simplify, experiment, and interpret what you see Please note: Images are examples only. Every Yulia ArtSpace course is unique, with new projects created for each session. Structure + Freedom Each class combines clear, step-by-step instruction with plenty of room for experimentation, curiosity, and personal expression. Learn new skills while developing your own creative voice. Bright, Welcoming Studio Enjoy creating in our bright downtown Kitchener studio—a calm and inspiring space where you can slow down, focus, and make creativity part of your everyday life. Small Groups + Individual Guidance Receive personal feedback, ask questions, and develop your skills at your own pace in a supportive small-group environment. Creativity + Community Create alongside other adults who enjoy learning, exploring, and making art together. Many students join for the classes and stay for the welcoming community, creative conversations, and the joy of having a regular place to create.
Upcoming Sessions
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations & Credits All registrations are non-refundable. If you cancel your registration at least 7 days before the start of the session, the full amount may be transferred as an art credit toward future classes or camps. Cancellations made less than 7 days before the session begins are not eligible for credit. Exceptions may be considered in special circumstances at the studio’s discretion. Missed Classes Registration reserves your spot for the full session. Classes missed for personal reasons, including illness, travel, or other circumstances, are non-refundable and cannot be transferred as credit to a future session. When possible, you may join another appropriate group to make up a missed class. If this option is not available, we may offer one make-up class at the end of the session. Classes Cancelled by Yulia ArtSpace If a class is cancelled by Yulia ArtSpace, a make-up class or art credit will be provided. If the minimum number of participants has not been reached one week before the start of a class session or camp, the program may be cancelled. In this case, you will receive a full refund or may transfer your payment to another class or camp. Late Registration Late registration is welcome when space is available. Art Classes: You may join a session after it has started and pay only for the remaining classes. Art Camps: You may register during a camp week for the remaining available day(s) or half-day(s).
